B.Ed IV semester students of Department of Education, Rajiv Gandhi University, along with the faculty members of the Department, on April 22, 2019 celebrated World Earth Day through organising procession and skits in University campus, Doimukh and Nirjuli market. During procession students displayed colourful placards containing messages about how to save the environment and pronounced various slogans based on the importance of flora and fauna to maintain ecological balance. Performed skits, on the other, focused on how deforestation, pollution and illegal pouching led by human being caused and causing massive environmental degradation. The main focus of the celebration was to create awareness about environmental issues and its safety for better tomorrow among the general mass. The programme was started with tree plantation by the students in the department premise. Meanwhile, Prof. E. Hangsing, Head, Department of Education, Prof. J. Shahoo, Dr. Vivek Singh have addressed the gathering regarding sustainable development, our common future and role of public awareness in promoting environmental sustainability. Dr. Anga Padu, Dr. Anamika Yadav and Mrs. Manju Barman and other faculty members have also coordinated the programme.
